Orthodox Church Serving Seminole, FL
Orthodox Church Serving Seminole, FL
Seminole is a quiet residential city in central Pinellas County, with a population of around 19,000 and easy access to the Gulf beaches. If you live in Seminole and are looking for an Orthodox church, St. Michael Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Pinellas Park is just five miles north and is your closest Ukrainian Orthodox option.
Seminole itself has no Orthodox parish within city limits. The faithful and the curious have to travel north to Pinellas Park, south to St. Petersburg, or east to Tampa to find one. We are the closest, and the drive is comfortable.
Drive Time and Route from Seminole
From Seminole City Park (downtown Seminole, near Park Boulevard), the drive to St. Michael takes about 12 to 15 minutes. The most direct route:
- Head east on Park Boulevard from downtown Seminole
- Continue east through Largo and into Pinellas Park
- Turn north on 49th Street
- Turn east on 102nd Avenue
- We are at 9201 60th St
If you are closer to Madeira Beach or the western edge of Seminole, you can take 113th Street north to Park Boulevard and then east, or use Bay Pines Boulevard to cut over to 66th Street.
The drive is mostly suburban with traffic lights, no highways or tolls. Free parking on-site.
Why Seminole Residents Choose St. Michael
Seminole has a quiet, settled population, and many residents are looking for the same in their parish home: a community that is small enough to know everyone, traditional enough to feel timeless, and welcoming enough that newcomers do not feel out of place.
That is what we offer:
A small, family-feel parish. We are not a mega-church or a tourist cathedral. We are a working parish where Fr. Stephen knows your name within a few visits and parishioners look out for each other.
Bilingual liturgy. Sunday Divine Liturgy is celebrated in both English and Ukrainian. The choir leads bilingual hymns. Even if you are not familiar with Ukrainian, you will follow the service comfortably and find moments where the chant brings you home.
A long-rooted tradition. Ukrainian Orthodox liturgical tradition is one of the oldest continuously celebrated forms of Christian worship. Coming to St. Michael is coming to a service that has been prayed substantially the same way for over a thousand years, in unbroken communion with the Apostles.
Ukrainian culture without barriers. If your heritage is Ukrainian or your family connects to Ukrainian tradition, our parish is a place to belong. If your heritage is American and you are drawn to Orthodoxy through reading, podcasts, or the experiences of friends, you are equally welcome. We are not an ethnic club. We are a church.
Sacraments and Life Events for Seminole Families
Many Seminole families have approached us for baptism, weddings, and memorial services. Each of these sacraments can be celebrated in English, Ukrainian, or bilingually depending on your family’s preference. Reach out to Fr. Stephen well in advance to schedule and to discuss any preparation. There is no fee, though donations are welcome.
For weddings specifically, we should talk at least six months before your planned date. The Orthodox wedding tradition is rich and beautiful, with the crowning rite that is unique among Christian weddings. We will help you plan, prepare, and celebrate.
Other Orthodox Options for Seminole

- St. Sava Serbian Orthodox, St. Petersburg. About 8 miles southeast.
