Orthodox Church Serving Largo, FL

Orthodox Church Serving Largo, FL

If you live in Largo and are looking for an Orthodox church, St. Michael Ukrainian Orthodox Church is your nearest option in the Ukrainian Orthodox tradition. We are five miles north of downtown Largo, in neighboring Pinellas Park, and easy to reach via 4th Street North or 49th Street.

Largo has a population of about 84,000 and is a major hub of central Pinellas County, but the city itself does not have an Orthodox parish. The closest options for Largo residents are our parish to the north, the Greek Orthodox Cathedral of St. Stefanos in St. Petersburg about nine miles south, and St. Nicholas Antiochian Orthodox Church in Pinellas Park about six miles north. Of these, St. Michael is the only Ukrainian Orthodox option, and we are the closest parish offering services in English alongside another liturgical language.

Drive Time and Route from Largo

From Largo Central Park (the heart of the city), the drive to St. Michael is about 12 minutes in normal traffic. The most direct route:

  • Take 4th Street North out of central Largo
  • Continue north past Ulmerton Road and the Pinellas Park city line
  • Turn east on Park Boulevard
  • Turn north on 49th Street
  • Turn east on 102nd Avenue
  • Our parish is at 9201 60th St

If you are coming from East Largo or Belleair Bluffs, the route via US 19 is also straightforward: head north on US 19, exit east on Park Boulevard, then north on 49th Street.

Parking is free and on-site. There is no fee for any service, sacrament, or visit.

Why Largo Residents Make the Trip

Largo residents come to St. Michael for several reasons:

Ukrainian Orthodox tradition. If your family heritage is Ukrainian, or if you have arrived in Tampa Bay from Ukraine in recent years, our parish offers Sunday Divine Liturgy in both Ukrainian and English. Cantors lead bilingual congregational singing. Sermons are in English. Parish life follows the Ukrainian liturgical calendar and traditions.

Bilingual services for mixed families. Many families in Largo are bilingual or bicultural. A Ukrainian-American couple, a family with grandparents who speak Ukrainian and grandchildren who speak English, a convert married to someone of Ukrainian heritage. Our liturgy serves all of you in one room.

Convert pathway. If you are a Largo resident exploring Orthodox Christianity, you do not need to know any Ukrainian. Our first visit guide walks you through what to expect. Fr. Stephen will meet with you to discuss the catechumen process when you are ready.

Sacrament accessibility. Largo families ask about baptism, weddings, and memorial services with regularity. We celebrate these with care, in either language or bilingually, depending on your family’s needs.

Other Orthodox Options Near Largo

We believe in helping you find the right parish home, even if it is not ours. For Largo residents, the closest alternative Orthodox options are:

  • St. Nicholas Antiochian Orthodox Church, Pinellas Park, ~6 miles north. Antiochian tradition, primarily English services. Good option for those drawn specifically to the Antiochian liturgical experience.
  • St. Stefanos Greek Orthodox Cathedral, St. Petersburg, ~9 miles south. Greek Orthodox tradition, with the annual Greek Festival as a community draw.
  • St. Andrew Russian Orthodox Cathedral, St. Petersburg, ~10 miles south. ROCOR tradition.
  • Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, Clearwater, ~10 miles north. Has seen significant growth in young convert membership.

If your heart is drawn to the Ukrainian Orthodox tradition specifically, or if you want a bilingual liturgical home, St. Michael is your nearest option.
